Do you guys often have to defend the Bellamort ship? I've been on message boards and in chat rooms where HP fans start talking about their favorite ships, and I'm usually the only Bellamort fan. I was just wondering if this happens to anyone else. Also, once others discover that I ship Bellamort, they usually try to convince me that it's not a valid ship. They try to explain that since Voldemort can't love and Bella is already married, the ship doesn't work. I usually counter with a quick list of some Bellamort moments from the books and a few quotes from JKR about how Bella was in love with Voldemort. Do people try to tell you that Bellamort doesn't exist? If so, how do you usually respond?

O yeah, on my deviantart page are both my Sweeney Todd/ Mrs. Lovett stories and my Bellatrix/Voldemort stories, and the Sweeney fans who read the Bellamort fics are sometimes like "wtf?!?", but once I tell them it's canon (one sided, anyway ) by some quotes and stuff, they accept it. And if they don't... well, it's their problem

If the quotes from the book don't work, JKR's quotes usually make them understand.

I always get annoyed when my friends make fun of me for being a Bella/Voldy shipper. Only one friend supports me with Bella/Voldy things and that's only because she is a massive Harry Potter fan. *sigh*

When I first joined the most popular couples were Ron/Hermione, Harry/Ginny, and Harry/Hermione, but now almost everyone supports or at least recognizes Bellamort. Someone even asked the Moderator who her favorite couple was, and she said it had been Ron/Hermione but Bella/Voldemort had grown on her.

I also hate it when people make Bella avatars and say things like ~thank you molly weasley~ and such.

OK, i have come up with a great explanation, which i actually believe as well. Its to do with the moment in the DH where He screams and lashes out on someone after her death SO: She does love Him, in a worshipping way, ie. throught her wild obsession with His power and all that He is, He is all she thinks about; and this evokes a feeling which we would define as love and/or devotion. She probably wouldnt identify it like this though. (As in, use the term love) With Him, it's more difficult. He sees her as a part of Him or a pet, an equal with Nagini (who is ACTUALLY a part of him). When she dies, He screams. Not because he is angered by her death, but because when she dies, He feels SOMETHING, and Dumbledore would call this love. His realisation that He has feelings for something which is not a part of Him, causes Him to scream. I hope this makes sense. To me it's crucial to the development of the DH ending, because I think part of him gives up at that point, he loses part of his identity in discovering that he is able to feel. What it DOES do though is (to me anyway) show that he did have feelings for Bella, he just didnt scream because she died (which some naive people believe) Anyway, thats my theory. You can discuss it, but please dont take it as your own. ie. I copyright it or something NOTE: This also explains his continued obsession with bringing up/ mentioning love every sentence after this point.
